Myriam Roker
A Legacy of Service in Fox Hill
Myriam Roker is remembered as one of the quiet pillars of the Fox Hill community in Nassau, whose life reflected service, generosity, and unwavering dedication to the people around her. Born and raised in Fox Hill, she became widely respected for her lifelong contributions to church, family life, and neighborhood development.
Her influence continues to inspire the mission and spirit of the Fox Hill Community Centre, which stands as a hub for empowerment, community programs, and social development.
A Life Rooted in Community
Myriam Roker devoted much of her life to strengthening the social fabric of Fox Hill. For decades she served actively in church ministries and community initiatives, supporting families and neighbors with compassion and hospitality.
Known for welcoming people into her home and providing help wherever needed, she became a beloved figure whose generosity touched multiple generations within the community.

From the re-opening ceremony in 2017 — attended by the Governor General and Prime Minister — to today, the Centre has stood as a symbol of unity and progress for Fox Hill.

Programs & Activities
Empowering residents of all ages through skills, education, and opportunity
The centre hosts a variety of empowerment programs including youth development, skill-building workshops, mentoring, and educational activities designed to uplift residents of all ages. In September 2025, the Empowerment Hour Programme officially launched at the Fox Hill Community Centre — offering free 12-week training in entrepreneurship, culinary arts, American Sign Language, backyard farming, career planning, and healthy lifestyles.
Daytime Hour of Power
Free 12-week programme for adults covering career planning, entrepreneurship, and life skills.
After-School Programme
The 'I Have the Power' Hour for high school students, building confidence and future readiness.
Skill-Building Workshops
Hands-on training in culinary arts, backyard farming, garment-making, and jam production.
Health & Wellness
Know Your Rights sessions and Healthy Lifestyles programming for the whole community.

Community Events
Celebrating culture, unity, and the Fox Hill spirit
Throughout the year the centre hosts events that celebrate culture, promote unity, and provide opportunities for residents to connect and grow together. From the Annual Flag Raising on the Fox Hill Parade Grounds — led by the Pastor's Council, the Fox Hill Festival Committee, and the Fox Hill Cultural Committee — to national celebrations and youth activities, the community comes alive at every gathering.
